Since we live a mere ten minutes from the ocean, we are at the beach the majority of the time especially during the summer months. Whether we spend the morning playing in the sand and surf or enjoy an evening stroll on the boardwalk, the beach has grown to become our home away from home. The best part is that there are so many places to discover particularly since we have our choice of bay or ocean…only a very thin strip of land separates the two. So, when we find a new spot, it’s always exciting to explore. One of my favorite hidden corners is a small beach beyond the dunes where the ocean and the bay meet. It’s a bit of a trek to get there but once we cross over that last dune, the expansive views and dramatic skyline are well worth the walk. The other evening, we packed up turkey burgers, corn on the cob, watermelon and Rose’ (love this one) and had ourselves a family picnic on the beach. The kids chased after frogs (one in particular seemed considerably traumatized), built sand castles and climbed on the rocks. It was one of the best evenings I’ve had in a while and it served as a reminder to never take our proximity to the ocean for granted. Here is a look at my casual beach style…a striped three quarter sleeve tee, denim shorts and my trusty panama hat. Easy, effortless and classic….definitely my kind of look.

Such a cute look on you, Kate! I am going to the beach later this summer so I will have to recreate it then.

So jealous of how close you are to the beach. I suppose we have some here in Chicago, but it just doesn’t seem the same 🙂 You always have the most perfect casual looks perfect for an afternoon outdoors. I feel like I have been living in jean shorts, stripe tees and panama hats. It just doesn’t get better that that combo! Love this on you, as always! XO
Chambray and lace are one of my favorite combinations! And I always love that you add great pops of color to your looks – the bag is perfect! XO

Striped tees and boyfriend shorts are one of my go to casual outfits and I live in Ohio. (; As much as I wish there was a beach walking distance, it makes yearly beach vacations almost magical. Love your Jacks!

This looks like the perfect way to spend a summer day! I’m jealous that you are so close to the beach. I would live in this outfit if I lived so close to the beach. I hope your week is off to a great start!

A dinner picnic on the beach sounds like pure heaven. Not to mention this gorgeous secret spot you’ve found. You are so lucky to live so close. Absolutely love this classic coastal summer look.
