This past weekend, we ventured out to Long Island’s north fork for a morning of blueberry picking (plus some homemade ice cream) and while it was picturesque and fun to spend time as a family, it was extremely hot!! Note to self: next year, choose a day when the temps are in the mid seventies and there is zero humidity! We went to Patty’s Berries and Bunches in Mattituck which is an ideal location because it’s close to a plethora of wineries and not too far from Greenport where you can grab a bite to eat and browse the local shops. We didn’t have time to spend the entire day out there because we had to hightail it back to our neck of the woods for my son’s baseball game but you can easily make a day or a weekend out of it. We did manage to stop into one vineyard on our way home to pick up some wine (I highly recommend their Sauvignon Blanc) and I was sooo jealous of all the people sitting out back at picnic tables sipping wine and enjoying the view! I definitely want to return in the early fall. Summer baseball for our boys is almost over so I’m looking forward to enjoying some downtime as a family in the next few weeks before school starts. I can’t believe summer is almost over! This year it just flew right by.
