{Lake Winnipesaukee, NH}

This weekend,  I’m heading up to Lake Winnipesauke in New Hampshire to pick up my daughter from camp.  I can’t believe I’m saying this but I need a little break from the beach.  In the past few weeks, we’ve made up for lost time (due to my daughter’s hospitalization in July) and have been frequenting the beach a lot.  So, I’m looking forward to a change of scenery…the beautiful, vast lake (I took this photo last summer when I was up there), the mountains, and the charming town of Meredith dotted with lovely boutiques, antique shops and restaurants along the water.  I’m bracing myself for the long drive I have ahead of me but I have to keep reminding myself it’s worth it once we get there!  As summer is drawing to a close, I’m trying to savor every moment, especially the small but meaningful things that I’ve been enjoying with the kids.  This past week was refreshingly relaxing.  We woke up late every day, made a big stack of pancakes each morning and hit the beach in the afternoon.  I have to say it was pretty ideal…I will be looking back on this time a few weeks from now reminiscing about August and yearning for these long, lazy summer days…sigh.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
