Lavender farm on Long Island’s North Fork.
Taking a stroll through Old Westbury Gardens.
Another spectacular sunset with the Manhattan skyline in the distance.
Fresh veggies from our very own garden!
Watching Lady Antebellum perform at Jones Beach.
It felt so good this past week to return to our “normal” life away from the hospital and back outdoors enjoying the sunshine! Sunday night, I had the best time tailgating with my girlfriends and taking in the Lady Antebellum concert down at the beach. Although thunderstorms were predicted, we managed to escape that ominous forecast and instead enjoyed cocktails and appetizers as the sun went down and then headed over to the stadium for an amazing show. The kids and I had an action packed week complete with mini golfing, a visit to Old Westbury Gardens and a jaunt out east to the most gorgeous lavender farm on the North Fork. On the way home, we stopped by a charming farm stand for apple cider donuts and fresh fruit (the peaches were out of this world…one of my favorite peach dishes is this one). Although August is a bit depressing knowing that summer is almost over and another school year is on the horizon, I do love this month for the beautiful weather, the abundance of delicious produce (we have a plethora of tomatoes growing in our little vegetable garden!), and the most exquisite, vibrant sunflowers. Next week we’re heading down to D.C. for a mini get away and I’m so excited to be a tourist in one of my favorite cities. Naturally, the kids want to go to the Air and Space museum but my number one priority is hitting up the American History Museum where they house all of the first ladies’ inaugural gowns. I may have to bribe them with candy and soda (no judgement please) but I am determined to get there! Hoping everyone has a fabulous weekend! Happy Friday!
