Easy Turkey Chili

Over the weekend, I was craving something warm, comforting and nutritious.  So, when my husband volunteered to whip up a batch of this easy turkey chili accompanied by this low fat cornbread, I was definitely on board.  Since we were planning on serving this dish as a family dinner, we opted to forgo any hot spices (although my husband topped his with Frank’s sauce) and simply stuck to chili powder and a pinch of turmeric.  Not only does turmeric add a nice dash of color to most dishes, it also acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory and is a very strong antioxidant.  Additionally, we substituted regular sour cream and cheddar cheese for low fat versions and added two tablespoons of ground flax seed to the cornbread.  The result?  A peaceful family meal that everyone enjoyed and enough for left-overs the next night.  Seriously, what’s better than that?
