Hilton Head

{Port Royal Plantation}

Although I took a ton of photos both on my phone (seen here) and my camera, they really don’t fully portray the beauty of Hilton Head.  This was our sixth time to the island and each time we return, I grow to love it even more.  There’s something so magical about the forest leading up to the beach…the Spanish moss and palm trees, the dramatic dunes, the charming towns and the endless biking trails.  It’s so peaceful and laid back, that by mid-week, my husband and I start discussing ways we could relocate here.  Each time, we try to stay in a different location but I’d have to say my three favorite places are Palmetto Dunes, Sea Pines and Port Royal Plantation.  We always book a home through VRBO but there are a plethora of ocean front resorts to choose from as well.  I would highly recommend renting bikes.  It’s so convenient…they deliver and pick up at your location so the whole process is a breeze.  Aside from biking and swimming, tennis and golf are pretty huge on Hilton Head.  There are an abundance of gold courses…it’s hard to choose the best although my husband really enjoyed the ocean front one in Palmetto Dunes.  In addition, kayaking in the lagoons is another fun activity.  My husband took my son the last time we were there but I was too afraid of the alligators…eek!  We usually go grocery shopping the first day and eat all our meals in but we do treat the kids to one dinner out at the Salty Dog Cafe in Sea Pines.  You can eat inside or out by the water and there’s always live music, a fire pit, and an outside bar.  Another great place to dine out is in Shelter Cove Harbor.  They host a fireworks display every week during the summer and there’s even a Disney Resort there for families.  What’s great about Hilton Head is that it’s 45 minutes from Savannah so we always take a day trip.  The trolly tours are an ideal way to explore the city.  We’ve done them a few times so this past time, we took a  boat tour instead.  Although the boat tour was different and informative, my favorite way to experience Savannah is on foot to really get a feel for the city.  There are so many old beautiful homes and squares…definitely worth the visit!  If you follow me on Instagram, you may recognize some of these photos.  I’ve included links to my outfits…and the best part is that most of these items are currently on sale!   I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
