Liebster Award

Last week, my fellow blogger, Erin of Clever Girl Reviews, magnanimously nominated me for a Liebster Award!  I know!  Crazy, right?  I think I’m still pinching myself!  Erin is one of my favorite bloggers because she provides us with the lowdown on everything from food and wine, beauty, fashion, decor, diy, health and fitness, and travel.  I particularly enjoy her wine reviews….her latest post is all about her take on a Sauvignon Blanc.  Erin’s writing is always perceptive, engaging and humorous so be sure to check her out!  In the meantime, allow me to explain the premise behind the Liebster Award.  Basically, it is a way for up and coming bloggers to support one another in the massive and sometimes overwhelming blogosphere.  The rules are as such: mention the person who nominated you, list 11 random facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions asked by the person who nominated you, then create a new set of 11 questions and nominate 11 up and coming bloggers.  So, here we go…

11 Random Facts About Myself:

1. I’m a huge fan of country music…currently loving Lady Antebellum.

2. I have a serious sweet tooth….I’ll choose dessert over dinner any day.

3. I’m technologically challenged…my kids and my husband are constantly coming to my rescue!

4. My ideal vacation spot is Hilton Head Island…beautiful beaches, perfect weather and southern charm.

5. I’m a total night owl….you will find me scrubbing my floors at 1 AM.

6.  I can be very outgoing and gregarious but I also cherish my solitude and quiet moments.

7. Sometimes I wish I lived on a tropical island because I can’t stand being cold….but I love New York way too much so I guess I have to just tolerate the winter (almost over)!

8. My biggest pet peeve: rudeness.

9. I once had a pixie cut a la Winona Ryder.

10. I’m not a jewelry person but I could never have enough handbags and shoes!

11. I have never been to Disney World.

Here are Erin’s Questions:

1. Coffee or tea?  How do you take them?

Definitely coffee…with milk.  My favorite is Dean and DeLuca.

2. Wine or beer?  What are your top three favs?

Wine.  I like a Malbec in fall and winter, a Rose in spring and summer and I enjoy either a Sauvignon Blanc or a Pinot Grigio from time to time.

3. Most embarrassing moment?  Keep it PG-13 and under!

I have had so many embarrassing moments!  It’s hard to choose.  The one that stands out more than others is the time I referred to myself as a clown during a job interview!  Incredibly, I landed the position!

4. What is your favorite skin care product?

I would say Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.  It’s not as heavy as a foundation and gives my skin a dewy glow.

5. If your house was on fire but your family and pets were safe, what would you run back in to get?

My wedding album.

6. What’s your most coveted high end make-up brand?

That’s easy.  La Mer.  I’m curious as to what all the fuss is about.  Everyone swears by it!

7. Favorite philanthropic past time or charity? 

Big Brothers, Big Sisters.  Anything that can help underprivileged children I’m all for.  We constantly donate gently used clothes, toys and books to this organization.

8. What are your top three favorite television shows of ALL TIME?

I think it would be Beverly Hills 90210 (my high school years), Sex and the City (my twenty-something years) and currently I’m loving House of Cards.

9. Can you give us some insight into a time when you overcame some great personal adversity?

The biggest challenge I have faced has been and continues to be raising 4 children.  It’s humbling, exhausting and completely overwhelming at times but they are my greatest source of joy and they are what motivate me to try to be an honest, giving and loving person each and every day.  Oh, and by the way, they are absolutely hilarious!

10. What are your top three bucket list items?

I would say: 1) to publish a book 2) overcome my fears (hello sky diving!)  3) take a cross country road trip with my husband.

11. What is your favorite food treat?

Without any hesitation: cake!!!

12. Bonus question: What are your top three favorite fragrances?

Currently, I would say: 1) Bobbi Brown Beach 2) Lavande by Calypso 3) Jo Malone Orange Blossom
