Spotlight: Lyndsay of Prosecco in the Park

DSC_4369-2

Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to my friend and fellow New York blogger, Lyndsay of Prosecco in the Park.  What I love about Lyndsay’s blog is her witty and eloquent writing, her classic and understated style, and her Friday cocktail series (seriously worth checking out).   Lyndsay and I share a similar aesthetic and sense of humor so I thoroughly enjoy reading her daily posts as I sip my morning coffee.  One of the things I love the most about blogging is the community of like-minded people I have formed connections with…it’s so inspiring to see others pursuing their dreams and following their passions.  Even better is the constant support and encouragement we all extend to one another.  Women building each other up is so powerful and a lesson I wish to pass onto my own daughter.  So, to meet one of my blogger friends in person is the icing on the cake!  Lyndsay and I always have plenty to talk and laugh about over cocktails and I’m so glad we get to meet up when our schedules coincide.  Don’t forget to follow Lyndsay on Instagram, Pinterest and Bloglovin.  Now, without further adieu, let’s get to know Lyndsay better…

1. What was the inspiration behind your blog and how did you come up with the name?

My blog began way back when as a way to keep up my writing and experiment a bit with photography, half practice, half hobby. I didn’t tell anyone it existed and no one read it. Last June I decided to shift the focus to my personal style and cocktails, curious to see if it would go anywhere.

The name comes from a trip to Italy a few years back. We made a daily habit of grabbing a bottle of prosecco and sandwiches and sitting out in a quiet piazza or small park for lunch. It’s still one of our favorite afternoon activities. I take picnics very seriously. When trying to come up with a name, the one I kept coming back to was “Prosecco in the Park”. I wanted something that felt transitional, all encompassing, since I would be sharing a variety of content and it fit the bill.

2. How do you come up with daily content for your site?  What are your greatest sources of inspiration?

The process is kind of mundane. I tend to think about what I’m going to wear the next day as I lay in bed at night. Currently Loving posts are usually built around one special item or theme. And drinks are mostly based on what I have on hand. I want them to be easy to create and accessible. Making your own cocktails at home shouldn’t be a daunting task, they’re so easy.

I draw inspiration from all over the place. Other blogs, tv and movies, pinterest. I am a consumer on a a very broad spectrum.

3. What sites do you read every day?

I go through a lot of blogs on a daily basis but some of my favorites are:
How Sweet It Is (www.howsweeteats.com). I have a never ending “to make” list filled with Jessica’s inspired recipes.

The Daily Tay (www.thedailytay.com). Taylor is clever and hilarious. It’s impossible not to smile while reading her posts.

See (Anna) Jane (www.seeannajane.com). I really admire Anna’s classic with a twist style, she never misses.

Paris in Four Months (www.parisinfourmonths.com). Simply put, Carin’s photography is daydream inducing.

4. Describe your personal style in three words.

Casual, classic, and simple.

5. Where are your favorite places to shop?

Rag and Bone, Vince, Joie, Tibi, Shopbop

6. What are three beauty products you cannot live without?

I am obsessed with Jouer lip gloss, it’s not sticky and has great staying power. My Drybar Buttercup hair dryer has dramatically improved the way my hair looks. And nail polish, I paint my nails once a week.

7. Describe an ideal weekend in the summer…

An ideal summer weekend would include lots of time spent with the pup, a trip to the beach, brunch in an empty West Village, a show at UCB and gelato for good measure.

8. What places are you interested in traveling to?

Right now Australia, Switzerland, and Santorini top my list, but there are very few places I wouldn’t want to visit.

9. What do you find most rewarding about being a blogger?

Try not to roll your eyes, I think the most rewarding part of blogging has been the friendships I’ve made along the way. I’ve met some really wonderful people in this odd little blog world.

10. What advice to you have for someone just starting out as a fashion and lifestyle blogger?

Write what you know and like, not what everyone else is doing, and don’t be afraid to ask other bloggers questions if you have them.
