The Milk Pail
This past weekend, we headed out to the Hamptons for our traditional trip to the Milk Pail (last seen here). If you’re not familiar, the Milk Pail is located off the beaten path, tucked away behind the never ending array of stately and charming homes in the town of Watermill. As you pull into the orchard, you’re greeted by sweeping views, lush green fields, and a quaint little stand that sells pumpkins, donuts, and warm coffee. The staff is so cheerful and informative…I even learned the proper way to pick an apple! I was told not to snap it off the tree but rather gently lift it up and it will effortlessly come right off. I think I started to annoy my kids with all the photos I took but it was such a beautiful fall day and the setting was like something from a post card, I just couldn’t help myself! We returned home with more apples than I know what to do with but of course, I felt the need to whip up a little something Sunday morning (stay tuned for tomorrow’s post). In the mean time, here’s a little peek into our Saturday afternoon…

Gorgeous photos! I love royal gala apples 🙂 it seems everyone is getting into the autumn mood…but I am loving spring at the moment down here in New Zealand! 🙂 I would love to be in America for Halloween one day…it seems like it would be really fun. It is not really much of a tradition here.

My sister went apple picking somewhere out East over the weekend as well! I’m jealous I didn’t get to go. These photos are so lovely, that closeup of the apples should be a painting it’s so pretty.

Ahhh apple picking is so awesome!! I’ve never been and honestly didn’t know there was a proper way to pick them! This is such an amazing memory your kids will always remember! And as for an abundance of apples, I love dehydrating mine! I sprinkle some cinnamon on them and they make great little chips!
