This past weekend, we finally got around to planting our vegetable garden.  It’s one of my favorite traditions….taking the annual trip to the nursery, choosing the various vegetables and herbs and wandering around browsing at the wide selection of flowers and outside decor.  Typically, we usually end up with basil, parsley, lettuce and tomatoes.  However, this year, the kids convinced me to branch out so we added corn, cucumbers, carrots and strawberries to the mix.  Although the weather wasn’t ideal (we’ve had an exceptionally chilly spring), we layered up and got our hands dirty.  To me, there’s something so therapeutic about being outside in my garden…it’s where I am able to process my thoughts and often times, find an inner sense of peace.  Having said that, the other day wasn’t exactly serene with the kids (I have three boys after all) but it was fun and rewarding.  I can’t wait to watch our little garden grow…it’s such a satisfying feeling to pick your own produce and come up with different creations each night….one more thing to look forward to if the temperatures ever warm up!
