Chic Work Space

I am finally getting around to creating a dedicated work space for myself after spending the majority of my time at the kitchen table or curled up on the couch.  So, the first step was to order a desk, which arrived this week!  I settled on a dark wood writing table with a simple drawer and ample room for my computer plus a few knickknacks.  I don’t want it to look cluttered because the desk is in my living room so the idea is to create a clean, chic work space.  Of course, I envision it with a pretty framed print hung on the wall, a vase of fresh flowers, and an elegant lamp.  But, I’m a little stumped as to which accessories and whether to go with a modern or traditional chair.  Naturally, I turned to my pinterest board for some much needed inspiration and after scrolling through my favorite images, I realized that I lean towards a mix of classic and contemporary.  I have several ideas as to which direction I am going to go in, mainly based upon these photos.  So, I plan on tweaking this space over the weekend and I couldn’t be more excited.  Do you prefer old, new or a combination of the two?  What elements would you include in your ideal home office?
