Natural Beauty

I’m constantly on the hunt for safe yet effective products for myself and my family.  However, lately, after discovering this useful app from the Environmental Working Group, I’ve discovered that some of my choices weren’t as safe as I had originally thought.  I mistakenly believed that if a label said “natural” or “organic” then it must be true.  Not necessarily so.  These labels can be misleading and with so many options out there, it can be incredibly confusing and frustrating.  This handy app allows you to simply scan your favorite products or manually enter them and then you will receive a score from 1-10 rating the product (1 being the safest and 10 being the scariest).  Of course, I was scanning everything I use and quickly realized some items needed to be tossed asap!  Thankfully, I was able to hang onto a few of my favorites while also investigating new brands and testing them out.  Since I absolutely love trying out new lotions and potions, this has quickly become a fun and informative project.  So far, I’ve scooped up this maracuja oil (a fraction of the cost of the Tarte version fyi), this RMS luminizer, and this Boscia BB Cream.  I’ve also been loving this Honest shampoo and conditioner as well as their body lotion although I’m still a huge fan of coconut oil as a moisturizer (last discussed here).  Above, I’ve featured a few other products I’ve had my eye on.  I’ve heard rave reviews about Tata Harper’s collection so I’d love to try out this facial cleanser and I while I’m happy with my Tom’s deodarant, I’m curious about this Lavanila version. I’m also interested in the products sold over at the Beauty Counter  (none of their products are rated above a 3). Are you all about natural beauty?  If so, I’m dying to hear your recommendations!
