Normally, when I go to the beach, I need a cart, a cooler, a plethora of snacks, drinks and sunscreen as well as a waterproof bag to carry all the beach toys plus extra towels and a change of clothes.  Oh, and did I mention my four children?  They come too.  So, on the rare occasion that I go by myself, packing my one straw tote seems like a breeze.  It reminds me of those carefree days as a young twenty something where the only thing I had to fret about was applying my sunscreen evenly.  These days, my biggest worry is keeping track of everyone which can get a little stressful (although I’ve learned to park myself right in front of the lifequard chair which I definitely find reassuring).  Needless to say, venturing off to the beach sans children is like a mini vacation so I take full advantage whenever I can!  Here’s a peak at my beach bag essentials: aviators, a magazine, sunscreen and lip balm, hair mist (to spritz on after a dip in the water), a roomy straw tote, a panama hat (a red or wrinkly face is never chic), a flattering one piece suit, waterproof flip flips, a multi-purpose scarf, a glass water bottle, healthy snacks, and a luxurious beach towel.  Tell me…what are your must-have items for a day at the beach?
