When I spotted this striped poplin top at Old Navy a few weeks back, I instantly snatched it up.  I knew this crisp, classic shirt would be the ideal wardrobe staple.  It’s the perfect layering piece under blazers, sweaters or vests and it pairs just as nicely with a favorite pair of jeans and boots as it does with a chic black pencil skirt and heels.  The other weekend, I styled mine with this simple navy blazer and my trusty Gap skinny jeans for brunch and a walk down at the beach.  Although it was sunny and mild, there’s always a cooler breeze down by the water so I was glad I came prepared.  This week is supposed to remain relatively warm here in New York so versatile, easy basics that can adapt to the ever changing climate are definitely the way to go.
