Day Trip To Palmetto Bluff

When we were down in Hilton Head a few weeks ago, my daughter and I along with our friends decided to take a day trip to nearby Palmetto Bluff.  If you’re not familiar with this hidden gem, it’s an enchanting community located half way between Hilton Head and Savannah in South Carolina’s Lowcountry.  Bordering the expansive May River, this quintessential Southern locale is dotted with charming homes complete with front porches and plantation shutters, winding roads, lagoons for kayaking and canoeing, a town square with the prettiest chapel, a restaurant and shops, plus the Montage hotel, a luxury resort located directly on the river.  We walked around Wilson Village, which is their “downtown,” ate lunch on an outdoor patio at Buffalo’s restaurant (the fried green tomatoes were sooo good), popped into the chapel where they were preparing for a wedding that evening, and stopped into a boutique for a little perusing (I basically wanted everything in there).  The weather was ideal, the setting was dreamy, and I was basically in heaven.  If you’re ever in the Savannah or Hilton Head area, I highly recommend visiting this peaceful, quaint community.  Oh, and did I mention that the HGTV smart home is located in Palmetto Bluff this year?  Hop on over to their website for a chance to win this gorgeous home plus a $100K prize.  Not too shabby, right?
