Shark Fin Cupcakes

With Shark Week in full swing, I thought I’d get into the spirit of things and whip up a batch of these festive (or should I say frightful) cupcakes.  The fun thing about being a mom is that you find yourself celebrating things you’d normally overlook.  Although I’m deathly afraid of sharks (as I would imagine most people are), I’m willing to put my fears aside and snuggle up on the couch and muscle through an episode or two on the Discovery Channel.  I figure if I can come face to face with one at the aquarium, my TV can’t be all that scary.  Of course, everything is better with dessert, particularly cupcakes.  These one bowl chocolate cupcakes are a breeze to make and have become a favorite in our house.  I cheated a little by opting for store bought icing and just adding a few drops of food coloring.  But wouldn’t you if your kids were literally circling (no pun intended) the table eyeing those tasty bite size treats like they were live prey?
