Weekending

Weekending

One of the things that I look forward to the most about the weekends is the freedom that comes with not being in a schedule for two whole days.  It’s so refreshing being able to sleep in (for us that means eight o’clock if we’re lucky), brew a big pot of coffee and enjoy a leisurely breakfast of pancakes or fresh bagels.  While the kids play (and fight… #reality) we plan out our day which usually consists of errands in the morning and then a mini day trip out East or into the city.  We decided this fall to forego all the sports and instead focus on time spent as a family exploring different places and trying new things.  So far, we’ve been apple picking (seen here) and to a winery (seen here) as well as a jaunt into the city last weekend to the Museum of Natural History (seen here).    This weekend, we plan on visiting a pumpkin patch on the North Fork and hopefully stopping for some apple cider donuts and fresh local produce.  Due to the unpredictable weather, layers and comfort are two essentials I cannot compromise on.  Having said that, I always like to remain polished and pulled together so this is an example of an ideal weekend “uniform.”
