Blood Orange Margaritas

The other week, I met up with Lyndsay for drinks at Cask Bar and Kitchen.  Aside from the charming rustic decor plus the cheese platter and flatbread we shared (devoured), we both were pretty excited about our choice of cocktails.  Lyndsay ordered a grapefruit mojito and I opted for the blood orange margarita.  I didn’t think a margarita could taste any better than this orange-lime recipe until I tried the blood orange version and now I’d have to say, I’m a definite convert.  Besides the fact that it looks colorful and wonderfully enticing, the blood orange gives this cocktail just the right amount of sweetness without going overboard.  Since I love the original skinny margarita, I knew this particular recipe would be fool proof so I tried it over the weekend and it tasted just as good as the one at Cask.  I still have a few blood oranges left so I know what I’ll be doing Friday night…
