Monthly Beauty Update

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve shared one of my monthly beauty posts so let me bring you up to speed on the products I’ve been using lately.  Of course, if you’re a regular reader here, then you already know that I am an enthusiastic proponent of safe personal care products.  If you’re not carefully reading the labels on the products you use every day, please start doing so asap!  Countless products are composed of toxic chemicals unbeknownst to most consumers so it’s paramount that you educate yourself before you slather on your favorite cream or foundation.  Two of my go-to resources are the Think Dirty app  and the EWG site where you can look up the products you use and determine how safe they are and if it’s time to start shopping for alternatives.

A few weeks ago, my skin was acting up so I decided to switch up my routine a bit especially when it comes to my moisturizer and foundation.  I found that my complexion was irritated and dry so I was looking for a product that was calming as well as one that would moisturize and provide the right amount of coverage without appearing cakey.  After researching a plethora of products, I decided to try out this Lapis Oil, which acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent which helps to reduce redness and clear up your skin.  This product also contains Jojoba oil which is a fantastic moisturizer.  In addition, I decided to try out these two Juice Beauty products: this primer, which is so light plus I love the illuminating effect,  and this CC Cream, which is super creamy without feeling heavy.

Another product I recently discovered is this hand cream by JR Watkins.  It’s a lemon scent which smells so fresh and clean plus it works wonders on dry winter hands!  I keep one on my nightstand and one in my bag at all times.  Speaking of fresh and clean, I’m completely obsessed with this orange blossom perfume by Jo Malone.  I bought one as a gift at Christmas and then of course I needed one for myself!  I have the small bottle so I can bring it with me wherever I go for an extra spritz.

Lastly, two other products I’m loving lately: this nourishing eye cream from Beautycounter (a little goes a long way) and this light pink nail polish from Cote.  It’s the perfect subtle shade and what I love most is that it’s free of toxins and leaves you with a shiny, long lasting manicure.
